Issues with 2010 Census

The following letter was sent to Mayor Regalado and Commissioner Sarnoff. Please make sure you are counted, a lot of funding for our community depends on it.

Mr. Mayor and Commissioner, I am writing this email to plead to your city’s leadership. We have made several attempts at counting some of your city’s exclusive locations, to no avail.
We do not want to short change the City by turning in incomplete counts, but if we are unable to enter some of these locations the procedures that we must follow require us to skip over these locations.
That could easily result in a loss of $1200-2000 per individual per year to City of Miami community. I know individuals that live in these exclusive locations pay for their privacy, but if they go uncounted the City of Miami will suffer as a entity.
Currently we have had no success in entering the buildings in Coconut Grove, Brickell and some outlying areas, this missing locations represent nearly 1,000 or so households that have not completed their questionnaire.
Some of these households maybe vacant, but without confirmation, we will be forced to bypass these households, treating them as vacant. If these households are occupied by at the very least by one individual, the City of Miami may lose approximately $12,000,000 in federal funding over the next ten years.
I know this is a major concern of your as it is mine, if there is something you can do to assist us, before we are forced to go into “close out” procedures, I would greatly appreciate it.
