Campaign Finance Report 2

The mayoral campaign finance analysis received very mixed reviews. From the establishment, it was generally negative; from everyone else, very positive. To answer those that questioned my motives: I don’t work for any candidate and I haven’t endorsed any candidate. I will not stand on the sidelines for this or any election if there is something that needs to be talked about. Understanding the circular flow of money in the political system is essential and should be part of our daily political discourse. Money is behind corruption, money drives power, money encourages favors. Anyone who has followed Miami politics knows that corruption is no stranger to this city.

For the past year, I have been trying to work with incumbents to find solutions for many of the problems I see here in Coconut Grove. What I have found is that there is a reason many people become cynics and lose their optimism. Year after year, we are manipulated to elect one of two candidates who both are being funded by the same people. The cycle continues, and as usual, the common person is left behind.

To those who wish to keep the truth quiet — good luck.

I agree with you, money does influence people.
However if you look at the history of some people you get to see if it “buys” someone.
Or just gives them “access” My point is, you can give me $10, the next time I see you, I might buy you lunch, or I may just hear what you have to say.
